Walking through Delhi’s Lodhi Art District feels like entering a living canvas. With larger-than-life street art painted on the walls, the once monochromatic government buildings are a breath of fresh air. The last housing estate built by the British in the 1940s, Lodhi Colony, was one of Delhi’s prestigious neighbourhoods. It’s once mundane and shut off apartment blocks were turned into a standing canvas with murals growing out of the building’s arches. Since 2015, St+Art India Foundation has invited over 50 street artists from around the world to create the Lodhi Art District. This February, the Lodhi Art Festival is having a month-long affair, transforming the iconic streets into a buzzing space of art, live music, workshops, and performances.
Lodhi Art Festival
2026 seems to be a special year for Lodhi Art District as it celebrates 10 years since its first mural. On this occasion, St+Art India Foundation, sponsored by Asian Paints, are hosting the Lodhi Art Festival from February 1st to 28th. Expect the district to transform into a month-long party, celebrating “art for all”. As artists around the world gather to give the walls of the district a touch-up with new murals. As a passerby, you can watch these precious conceptualisations come to colourful life. You can take part in the many art workshops and be part of spontaneous street performances. It is all to make art feel more immersive, accessible, and a pricelessly fun. Oh, did we mention that it is completely free?
The opening day on 1st February starts early morning at 10:00 AM with a curated walk. The public walk takes the visitors on a journey of art and history around the most famous walls of the Lodhi Art District. Moreover, the day then spills into an intimate workshop by Elian Chali, a famed Argentinian space artist. As the chill of the evening approaches, ELEVATION will bring a transcending performance of aerial acrobatics.
What else to expect?
As the district turns into a rotating gallery of live paintings and murals, you can roam the walkable stretch. The schedule is going to be packed with interactive stencil-art sessions, photography workshops, and evening pop-up markets with homegrown and sustainable brands. The inherent spontaneous nature of art inspires the spontaneity of the lineup itself. You may be wowed by a hidden gig or limited edition workshops. Every corner and every day of the month is a creative secret waiting to be unearthed.
While the event itself is free, some curated walks or workshop maybe chargable. To make sure you don’t miss a performance or just something cool, keep an eye on St+Art’s Instagram for schedules and real-time updates.
