The unique concept began in Mexico in 1999, with a humble and simple beginning. The idea was to allow children to experience adult professions in a city scaled to their size. Role-playing has always been an integral part of childhood imagining what it would like to be a grown up. Now, they get to experience it for themselves at KidZania. It is a meticulous 97,000 square feet replica of a real (but child-sized) city, complete with paved roads, shop fronts, a police station, banks, airports, and a functioning economy. Upon entering the KidZania International airport (with Air India), the first thing your kids receive are boarding passes. Then, they can proceed to collect KidZos, the official KidZania currency to spend on businesses around. Upon heading to the bank to open their savings account, each kid receives a debit card with their own name and signature. They can spend it on leisure like a donut shop or an activity like climbing a wall or in a grocery store filled with extremely tempting snacks.
Moreover, they also learn about discounts and vouchers that they can use to splurge and even learn to save.
Role-play to real world professions
However, to survive and thrive in the city, they must manage their money, open bank acounts, and work real jobs (kid sized, obviously) to earn a living. Created for children aged 4 to 16, KidZania offers upto 100 immersive role-playing actitivites. They can achieve their dream flying as pilots and cabin crew training inside a real fuselage with Air India or put on a brave front as firefighters putting our stimulated fire with a real fire hose or managing traffic as police officers. Moreover, they can even enter a mini hospital and perform mock surgeries, care for new borns, and learn emergency care as healthcare heroes. Or, build actual buildings brick by brick as construction works wearing cute little safety helmets and vests. Nevertheless, the jobs aren’t restricted to the obvious stereotypes. KidZania reminds children that the world is their oyster. They can be manufacturers, entrepreneurs, artists, and even radio jockey. They can design masterpieces at the DOMS painting studio, make treats at the candy factory, or indulge in making their own pizza as chefs. Yes, they can eat it later for lunch too!
For youngers citizens aged 0 to 6, the KidZania Neighbourhood opens up a plethora of sensory and social play areas from ball pits to colourful slides and bouncy houses. Each space is equipped to make your child independent, boost behavioral skills, inculcate social values, while having the time of their life. From costumes to prop, children have the safety and freedom to explore the city all on their own.

While your children take their first step into the world, safety is the first and foremost. Upon entry, both parents and the children are fitted with matching RFID electronic bracelets. This ensures no child leaves an activity or the facillity without their matchign adult, making it incredibly safe. While your youngun indulges, you can take a stroll in the mini city, take in the creativity, and perhaps even pine to be a part of it. Additionally, they house a Parents’ Lounge that comes with dedicated free wifi, a pool table, comfortable sofas and reading materials. While your children are out making deliveries and saving lives, you can grab a bite or a coffee with the many dining options scattered around the mini city.
