Airports across 32 northern and western Indian cities have reopened after their temporary closure amid the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The airstrikes launched by India, named Operation Sindoor, had resulted in airspace restrictions at several major airports, as over 500 flights remain cancelled. However, now that the two countries agree on ceasefire terms, airports across the country have resumed their daily operation as airlines lift their travel bans.

Major airlines resume services across the country
Indigo, SpiceJets, and Air India have all issued statements via their X account referring to their operations being resumed. Passengers are still expected to check the status of their flight online and will undergo rigorous security checks.
What can passengers expect?
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has emphasised the stringency of security protocol to be followed across all airports in India. Secondary ladder point inspections have been introduced for all airlines, and access has now been restricted to all terminal buildings. These temporary security measures will remain in effect until May 18.
