35th Mango Festival, Delhi
Delhi’s sweetest weekend is coming to Dilli Haat, and if you are a true mango connoisseur, you should not miss it. The Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has been a pioneer in the annual celebration of mangoes for the past 34 years. This year is no different. The 35th Mango Festival is bringing over 400 varieties of mangoes grown across India. While the varieties like Alphonso and Langra are well-known amongst the capital’s residents, India is actually home to roughly half of the world’s total mango supply. Moreover, every state across the country produces its own unique variety adapted to regional climates.
At the 35th Mango Festival, you can try over 400 varieties of mangoes directly from farmers. The stalls host the familiar types such as Alphonso, Langra, and Dasheri. Additionally, mango connoisseurs can discover gems like Himsagar from Bengal, Amrapali from Odisha, Chausa from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Kesar from Gujarat, Banganapalli from Andhra Pradesh, and more. The intriguing part lies in the varieties of flavour profiles, from pulpy to juicy to sweet and tangy. One can compare the difference in shape, size, and price. The festival brings a special unlimited tasting of mangoes for only ₹ 100/- and a mango-eating competition for adults. Let the best mango paglu win!
Beyond mango tasting, the festival is themed entirely around mangoes! You can expect stalls selling desserts, candies, pickles, and mango shakes. For savoury lovers, specialised food stalls also bring snacks and regional specialities made with innovative and local use of mango varieties. You can even take part in the mango quiz and win special prizes. Moreover, a special kid zone features mango mascots, a bouncy house, and slides for children to let out their energy while adults shop to their hearts’ desire. Finally, no festival is complete without music. From 12 PM to 9 PM, the venue features day-to-night folk performances and musicals to keep the energy alive.
