This December, Delhi transformed into an art escape, where technology met art and metaphor dissolved into reality. Sounds a bit poetic, doesn’t it? That is the feeling Nikas Safronov has brought through his “Dream Vision: India” exhibition to Delhi. It is taking place at the country’s oldest art institutions, the Lalit Kala Akademi, established in 1954, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, India.
A cultural handshake between Russia and India, the exhibit mixes Nikas Safronov’s tech-alchemy and Renaissance artistic fervour to sketch the Indo-Russian soul. Taking place from December 7 to 21, the event is open to all and completely free!
“Dream Vision: India” By Nikas Safronov
A Russian People’s artist and an acclaimed member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Nikas Safronov, is world-renowned for his metaphysical pieces of art that mix realism with fantasy. While his portraits maintain a personal touch, his displays are deeply emotional, detailed, and immersive with intricate use of technology. “Dream Vision: India” is no different. It is a love letter to India and celebrates the historical bond between his home country, Russia and India. For Nikas Safronov, it is his first exhibition not only in India, but outside of Russia.
What To Expect
The exhibit features 100 of Nikas Safronov’s finest works, including paintings inspired by Indian mythology, culture, and traditional imagery. The artworks gloriously depict architectural marvels of Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Taj Mahal, and other Indian landmarks. Displayed across eight halls of Lalit Kala Akademi at Mandi House, it combines the surrealism of classical painting with multimedia AI technology to truly take the viewer on an imaginative ride.
At the entrance, visitors are greeted which majestic elephant sculptures, hand-painted using Russian folk techniques. With more than 400 meters of LED screens, the exhibit features Nikas Safronov’s patented augmented reality effects and AI to narrate an otherworldly experience throughout the exhibition. From robotics and animatronics, you can see ginormous flowers come to life, mystical elephants taking strides, and seasons changing from warm evenings in Varanasi to snow-covered Kremlin.

The cherry on top is the sound and aroma unique to each hall that takes the visitors on a fictional sensory journey. Nikas Safronov’s Dream Vision is more than a mayhem of colour and chaos. It is a spiritual journey, a mystical India that sends your imagination into overdrive.
