Leo’s Pizzeria in Delhi has arguably been crowned one of the best in town and we have facts to prove it! In 2023, Leo’s was ranked among the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific and has been charting number one in our offices for years. I will leave it to you to sort out which one’s more credible. Since its inception, it has been crafting Neapolitan-style pizzas using the finest globally sourced ingredients and time-honoured Italian techniques.
A glimpse of the menu at Leo’s Pizzeria
Its classic Margherita pizza with generous dollops of buffalo mozzarella and fresh hints of basil does the job well. Pesto Chicken Pizza with swirls of homemade pesto, oven-roasted bell peppers, and a sprinkle of black olives is easily the first pie we order from their one-page menu.
Though using high-quality ingredients, from sun-dried tomatoes, slathers of freshly made sauce, and bubbling authentic cheese, it is the dough that stands out. Understandably so given the 48-hour cycle it goes through! The cycle further includes an eighteen-hour fermentation process followed by rest periods. This ensures that every fluffy bite here has the perfect crunch and texture.
Make your own pizza at Leo’s Pizzeria new lab: Leo’s @ 621
Given its fine credentials and many delicious slices to support the claim, Leo’s opened India’s first pizza lab called Leo’s @ 621. Aiming to provide an intimate and interactive experience you will find warm hues washing over comfy couches, walls stacked with books, and a striking wood-fired oven in their Ghitorni branch. Full of fresh dough, pizza sauces to slather, recipe cards, and a bucket load of toppings, the lab calls all pizza lovers (so…everyone).
What can you expect at Leo’s @ 621?
Available monthly, these workshops generally span three hours as the founder Amol Kumar walks you through the rich history and science behind pizza-making. You can craft your very own Roman-style Pizza alla Palla under his guidance thanks to his extensive training at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. You also get to crack open a bottle of wine as you roll out the dough and transfer your masterpiece into the wood-fired oven.
