Long-gone crowded rooms, flashing lights and an overbearing atmosphere! A renaissance of classical music gatherings is now unfolding at handpicked destinations across the country. Bringing in a new age inspired by bygone eras, IBTIDA seeks to revive the (until now!) slowly diminishing charm of mehfils & baithak. They offer an alternate route of presenting poetry, music and art following the guidelines that once celebrated the rich Indian artistic heritage– one laced with chandeliers, ornamented lamps, and loyal patrons of art.

Headlined by none other than Bollywood’s beloved Papon, this intimate baithak will be happening on August 30 at The Upper HSE by Tivoli, Delhi. All decked out for a culturally enriching night, this event promises soulful music that will teleport audience members to the Gilded Age of refinement.
What can you expect?
Featuring candlelights, dim-lit hues, and a stunning stage production, the magical mehfil will unfold in the gorgeous banquet at Tivoli. According to event curator Tanvi Singh Bhatia, “Our endeavour is to revive age-old traditions of craft, techniques in the modern world; to create a culture that promotes art with an amalgamation of Make in India initiatives that celebrate our stories & giving the artist a celebratory platform to interact with the audience in an intimate setting.”
The premise is meticulously curated, with utmost importance given to colours and scents that envelop the venue. From the flickering of lamps to the fragrance of rose seeping into the atmosphere, every element is thoughtful, immersive and intentional. “Every experience of ours (a mehfil) is a world within itself, thoughtfully designed not just to be seen but to be felt, inhaled, and remembered,” states co-curator Anubhav Jain.

Packaged as an immersive experience meant to stimulate nostalgia through sight, sound and smell- this baithak will slip under your skin, clouding every thought until the lights finally flicker on, relinquishing its gold-shaded veil.
