1. Akar Prakar
Since it opened in 2004, Akar Prakar has been exhibiting works by Indian artists. Curations feature modern and contemporary art. Between collaborating with renowned museums and other art galleries, backing award-winning Children’s books, and launching the ‘artVarta Research and Publishing Grant’, Art Prakar likes to keep busy. The gallery represents Ganesh Haloi, Leang Seckon, and Paula Sengupta, among others. You can also find another Akar Prakar gallery space in Kolkata.

2. Dhoomimal Art Gallery
Founded in 1936, Dhoomimal Art Gallery (DMG) is India’s oldest contemporary art gallery. DMG is at Connaught Place, a picturesque part of the city, and houses the impressive private collections of J.Swaminathan, Krishen Khanna, Bimal Das Gupta, and others. With a history of art, printing, and stationery, DMG promotes “affordable art” as well as books and collectibles.

3. Latitude 28
The artists represented by this gallery seek inspiration from the topical conversations of the day on top of what can be found within their own creative genius. Latitude 28 is looking for “lateral, disruptive and avant-garde” works. Past exhibitions include Scripted Selves: Sutures of Signs and Symbols (a series of photographs), Mobocracy x Democracy (a ‘Physical+Digital’ show), and Gauri Dancers (painted photographs). Expect the unexpected when it comes to Latitude 28.

4. National Gallery Of Modern Art
It wouldn’t be a list of art galleries in New Delhi without the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA). Where better to admire 17,039 artworks than inside the Maharaja of Jaipur’s former residence? The gallery exhibits Indian art dating as far back as the 1750s, and they include everything from paintings to installation art.

5. Exhibit 320
This art gallery in Lado Sarai welcomes works that are made with the new in mind—new materials, new ways of thinking, new, new, new. Exhibit 320 is also behind “seminars, lectures, and discussions, talks that contextualise art within critical discourse.” Past exhibitions range from Wahida Ahmed’s jacquard pieces to Veeranganakumari Solanki’s embroidery.

6. Kiran Nadar Museum of Art
When it opened in 2010, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) was “the first private museum of art exhibiting Modern and contemporary works from India and the sub-continent.” KNMA provides 34,000 square feet of space to hold incredible exhibitions. There are many activities to be discovered at KNMA, including workshops, symposiums, performances, outreach programs, and so much more.
